Sodium bicarbonate is used as part of a buffering system commonly used to maintain physiological pH 7.2 - 7.4 in a culture environment. Bicarbonate is a weak buffer with that makes maintaining a pH range of 7.2 - 7.6 somewhat difficult, but it is non-toxic, and is a nutrient source. Sodium Bicarbonate #25-035 is offered in a 7.5% solution prepared in Water for Injection (WFI) quality water.
